In Other News

12/08/2026 (Plymouth Road) Locals may have seen Police and Ambulance Service in Plymouth Road at around 6pm yesterday. It appears a young child walked out into the road from between two parked cars. A vehicle was travelling down the road at that time and struck the child. The child was taken to hospital with a head injury. This is still very recent and ongoing and do not have any further information at this time but I believe the injuries are not life threatening or life changing.

12/08/26 (Beckton ASDA) We caught the person committing distraction thefts at the ASDA Cash Machine red-handed yesterday. We are hopeful that he will receive a custodial sentence for it and will be in prison by dinner time today.

Hopefully the apprehension of two phone thieves and the person committing distraction thefts will keep the streets a little safer for us all for the foreseeable.

Until Next Week

Did You Know?

The origin of the word Blackmail:

Everyday Meaning: Forcing someone to pay money or goods by threatening to reveal a secret.

The Origin: The term dates back to the 16th-century Anglo-Scottish border region. Scottish clan chiefs forced local farmers to pay protection money to prevent their livestock from being stolen. At the time, "mail" was an old word for rent or tribute. Paying your rent in silver coin was known as "white mail." However, if you were forced to pay under the threat of violence using cattle, labour, or goods, it was called "black mail."
